Equity-Focused STEM Research Programs in Ohio
Ohio faces significant capacity gaps in its STEM education landscape, particularly in engaging minority students in research activities. Additionally, rural MSIs in areas like southeastern Ohio also play a critical role in advancing minority student representation. Many of these institutions struggle with resources, limiting their capacity to engage and retain minority students in STEM research initiatives meaningfully.
This funding initiative will create research programs specifically aimed at minority students in STEM, providing critical financial support for projects that address social and scientific issues relevant to their communities. By prioritizing research that engages directly with the lived experiences of minority populations in Ohio, the programs will foster a sense of ownership and relevance in STEM learning.
