Summary

Imagine a funding opportunity aimed at nonprofit organizations working at the intersection of social well-being and health equity within a defined region. This opportunity supports efforts that address broader community systems (think policy change and civic engagement) as well as direct social needs at the family or individual level. It’s not for medical or clinical services, so if you’re delivering health care, this likely isn’t the right fit.

Eligible applicants are formal nonprofits — or projects run through fiscal sponsors — with a strong emphasis on those embedded in and led by the communities they serve. Grassroots, community-based groups are especially welcome, and larger organizations can still apply if they show real partnerships with community-focused peers. Importantly, applicants doing empowering, inclusive work—especially serving historically underserved groups—will be given priority consideration.

Grant awards are offered twice a year, with applications opening in early February and again in early August, and final decisions made a few months later with a one-year funding period. Awards typically range from mid-five figures, providing meaningful support for program delivery, modest capacity building, or strategic planning. Funding amounts may vary, as the decision-makers have discretion to allocate more or less based on need, project alignment, and impact potential.

If you’re running a program that builds community resilience, equity, or leadership—and you can clearly articulate how your work elevates voices and systems—you could be an ideal match.

These grants are structured to strengthen both the roots and branches of community wellbeing, helping organizations not only deliver services but also shift conditions and narratives in meaningful ways.
